GENERAL ULTRASOUND CONCENTRATION

Our 28 month, full-time program is accredited by the Commission on Accrediration of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) with a recommendation by the Joint Review Committee on Education in Diagnostic Medical Sonography (JRC-DMS). It is designed to educate individuals to perform General Diagnostic Medical Sonography procedures under the supervision of registered diagnostic medical sonographers. Graduates are awarded an Associate in Science Degree and are eligible for the national registry examinations (ARDMS and ARRT).

The Diagnostic Medical Sonography program leads to an Associate in Science Degree. The program prepares selected individuals through theory and clinical experiences to practice as a Diagnostic Medical Sonographer in a variety of health care settings. Successful completion of the program requirements qualifies the student to apply and sit for the national credential examination offered by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers. Satisfactory achievement on this examination qualifies the graduation to practice as a Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS). The course of study combines general education in the humanities, biological and behavioral sciences with instruction in the theory and practice of Sonography.
