Students who achieve an outstanding scholastic record and demonstrate qualities of good citizenship receive recognition through admission into Phi Theta Kappa, the national honor society.

The honor society strives to promote scholarship, develop character and cultivate fellowship among men and women for students of two-year colleges.

Full-time students who have earned 12-24 credits with a cumulative grade point average of 3.50; or 24 or more credits with a 3.40, average are eligible to apply for admission to Iota Xi Chapter.

Part-time students are also eligible for membership and are required to have earned 18 credits and have a cumulative grade point average of 3.75; or 18-30 credits and have a cumulative grade point average of 3.60; or above 30 credits and have a cumulative grade point average of 3.50.

In addition, part time students are required to carry six credits each semester. Phi Theta Kappa sets membership requirements higher for part-time students because they do not carry a full course schedule.

Students are not eligible to join Phi Theta Kappa if they have earned more than 30 credits.
