All members of the School of Nursing have the right to appeal
certain decisions. The School of Nursing makes a distinction
between acts involving academic matters and other conduct,
which may be subject to disciplinary actions. This guarantee
is effected through the appeals processes of the School of
Nursing.
Student concerns are addressed through student representation
on faculty, curriculum and student services committees. An
academic and non-academic appeals process is detailed in the
student handbook. All other issues are addressed to the Dean,
on an individual basis. The documentation is maintained in
the office of the Dean.
Infractions of rules and regulations made known by the School
of Nursing authorities, Muhlenberg Regional Medical Center,
the State of New Jersey, the County of Union, the City of
Plainfield or the Federal Government may lead to disciplinary
action.
The School and all the students are held responsible for knowing
the contents of the Student Handbook and School Catalog. Failure
to read these publications or posted official notices of the
School does not excuse members of the School community from
the rules and regulations in effect.
The Student Handbook is distributed at the opening of each
academic year. It is also available in the administrative
offices of the School. Enrolled students may secure access
to a copy of the current catalog at the Admissions Office.
Official notices are posted on the School of Nursing bulletin
board.
Muhlenberg Regional Medical Center School of Nursing and Union
County College while jointly conducting the Cooperative Nursing
Program, remain autonomous institutions and establish their
own policies and procedures. The major areas of difference
in policy, in which the Muhlenberg Regional Medical Center
School of Nursing policy does not take precedence include:
recording and clearing of incomplete grades in non-nursing
courses, repeating non-nursing courses, challenge examinations
in non-nursing courses and conduct on the Union County College
campus which is subject to disciplinary action and the associated
Union County College judicial process.
Therefore, all students, being dually enrolled in the two
institutions, must not only be knowledgeable of their rights
and responsibilities at Muhlenberg Regional Medical Center
School of Nursing, but also at Union County College. Every
Student is therefore advised to become familiar with the Union
County College Student Handbook, the Union County College
Catalog and other college publications.
