The Faculty of Muhlenberg Regional Medical Center School
of Radiography coordinates all clinical education.
Clinical rotations are conducted at Muhlenberg Regional
Medical Center, Plainfield, JFK Medical Center, Edison,
as well as other hospitals and several satellite facilities
in New Jersey.
Clinical competency is an integral component of the educational
process. The faculty is directly responsible for student
assignments and the faculty closely evaluates the students’
progress and level of competence.
Prior to being assigned to radiographic areas for the actual
production of diagnostic radiographs on patients the student
will have completed a number of simulated laboratory sessions
with the faculty. These laboratory sessions correspond directly
to what has been taught in the classroom setting.
Adjacent to the classrooms is a non-energized laboratory
(non-x-ray producing) for demonstration, simulation and
practice. Laboratory evaluations are completed by faculty
and are incorporated into the Radiographic Procedures courses.
(Practice and demonstration sessions are also scheduled
throughout the semester and are conducted in the department
of radiology).
Students also observe proper use of equipment including
magnetic resonance imaging, radiation therapy, diagnostic
medical sonography, nuclear medicine, computed tomography
and mammography at the clinical facilities.
School of Radiography graduates have been accepted into
schools offering further study in the above specialties,
including the Muhlenberg Regional Medical Center School
of Nuclear Medicine Technology.
